Nate is the oldest child of the Rothdale kingdom and the heir to the throne. As the firstborn of the temperamental King Edward, his early childhood was tumultuous; his mother never particularly wanted children, but she was expected to give the King an heir. He was a naturally smart child, and as he grew older, he was given more and more to do; piano lessons, etiquette lessons, extended history...

He never really had the chance to be a child until quite a while after his sibling El - completely unplanned and rather sickly - was born. When El was only five years old, they fell so ill they almost died; it was at this point that Nate was mostly left to his own devices, as his parents' focus was redirected onto his sibling. Nate resented the attention his parents gave El, hating the fact that he had to work so hard to get any acknowledgment from his parents, yet El got showered with affection without even doing anything to earn it. As a teenager, his temper - and attitude - continued to get worse, but the target of his resentment switched to his parents, instead of his sibling.

Nate has grown a lot since then, but some things remain the same; he's terrible at regulating his emotions, and whenever he's upset or frustrated, he always shows it. He's prone to letting his anger get the better of him, and there have been many heated arguments between Nate and his father over the years. Despite his hair-trigger temper, however, Nate is an incredibly focused individual, who always puts all of his effort into anything he tries. He has a fierce determination, and when he puts his mind to something, you know it's going to get done. His passion can be a little intense at times, but it's part of what makes him who he is.
